Once more, I am off to the paint store for more paint chips. I've decided the previous colors I narrowed my choices down to were depressing. I want something different, something to make my house stand out from the crowd. So I'm going with something radically different. I think I'll look at some powder blues and peaches. I'm leaning toward peach, as I think it will go well with the hideous brown roof. And hey, maybe I'll use powder blue accents! Now there's an idea! Lightness instead of the drab dark colors I'd been experimenting with.
Now, of course, I'll have to use several coats of paint to cover the huge swatches of dark green and brick red that I'd already tested on the house. Maybe I should just do something fun and paint each board a different color. But then the neighbors would complain. Ah well, I guess I'll stay traditional, but hopefully with a little style. No matter what I choose, it'll cost money!
So wish me luck. Here I go . . .
I'm going to Romantic Times.

I am desperate for you to do something like this http://filelibrary.myaasite.com/Content/5/5209/1152997.jpg or this http://filelibrary.myaasite.com/Content/5/5209/1153000.jpg or http://activerain.com/image_store/uploads/4/5/9/8/8/ar123931235688954.jpg or even http://img5.travelblog.org/Photos/17776/214791/t/1636372-Painted-house-wall-0.jpg
Ahhhh, Susan, you understand me! I adore bright, festive, happy colors, so all of your links appealed to me. The most beautiful, IMHO, was the blue house with the yellow sunburst on top.
I certainly have the courage to do something like that, but I am hindered by the style of my house. I would love to have gables and dormers and fanlights over doors and such, but it is a very vanilla ranch-style home.
I'm thinking that I am coming at this all wrong. If I refused to let myself be limited by the house's style, I could do anything I wanted, even going so far as painting murals. Actually, I already plan on painting a mural on the side of my barn, but the house should probably be a little more subdued.
Or not.
My wild side is rattling the prison bars, begging to be let loose . . .
How about shades of yellow? Will go well with orange-brown roof.
I agree, Keira--yellow would go with the house. It's just that it's been yellow in the past and I want a change. Also, yellow isn't one of my "colors." I'm a winter and tend toward the blues, teals, greens, etc.
Right now, my house looks awful. It has about 8 different color samples painted on the front, and now I've gotten involved in indoor projects. I really need to get back to painting the house. Once I decide on a color! Woe is me! *g*
